Destiny’s Maryland Clinic was a Success!
Thanks to everyone that attended the Maryland Clinic hosted at the Ft. Detrick Paintball field. Jackie Lon did a great job promoting the event. Evan Estrate of Pinokio also brought a grip of people with him and Mike Melaski’s team, Outbreak, attended the clinic, as well. Mike Paxson instructed the clinic and did the usual phenomenal job. Destiny All-Female Makes History!!!
At the 2008 NPPL Huntington Beach Super 7 event, Destiny is the first all-female team to make it to Sunday since the inception of the NPPL Super 7! During the prelims, we won 6 games out of 8. Going into the quarter-finals, we were in the 14th place seat out of the 32 teams competing in D2. We matched up against Ground Control in a best two out of three situation quarter-finals. The first game was a draw and we were actually up in bodies (6 up) against their last 4, but bodies alive at the end doesn’t count. In this season’s quarter-finals, it’s just based on wins and losses and in order to win, a team has to hang the flag (no points for pulling the flag). Well, needless to say, the outcome was not a favorable one for us, but overall, this was a very successful event considering it was our first event together as a completely new roster. Our next event will be May 3rd at Ft. Detrick Paintball in Frederick, Maryland where we will be hosting a clinic. On May 4th, we have a practice. Then, May 16-18, we’ll be competing once again at the NPPL Jacksonville event.

Destiny Practice in Southern California March 22-23
We’ll be in Southern California the weekend before the first NPPL event of the season, the Huntington Beach Super 7. Tentatively, we’re thinking about going to Hollywood Sports Park in Bellflower, California, the weekend of March 22nd & 23rd. If you’re local to the area, please join us on March 22nd, Saturday, and play some paintball with us as we prep for our first NPPL event together as an all-female team.

Destiny Paintball Clinic - Instructors Mike Paxson, Rocky Cagnoni, & Bea Youngs
Starting in January of 2008, Destiny will become an all-female team. When the team was incepted in 2004, it was all-female, until mid-year, when we brought on the team’s first male players. With 4 females and 3 males on the field at the 2006 San Diego Super 7 event, Destiny became the first co-ed team with a mostly-female roster to win the D2 Championship. Then, in 2007, the latest and greatest record for the team was at the 2007 Tampa Super 7 event when Destiny took 4th place in D2, with 6 males and 2 females on the field. For the rest of the 2007 season, however, with Bea’s absence from the team’s practices due to her having to take care of father who is living with Parkinsons PLUS (Multi-System Atrophy), the team just wasn’t the same.
Now based out of Florida (that’s where Bea takes care of her father), the team will be rostered with an all-female list of players mostly from the east coast side of the country. There will be a handful of clinics that will take place in Tampa, Florida, at Rocky Cagnoni’s field, Break50Paintball (http://www.break50.net). Destiny will now not only be coached by the likes of World Cup Champion and NXL Series Champion Mike Paxson of the LA Ironmen, but also by former championship professional player, Rocky Cagnoni.
